It is a 100% polypropylene cartridge with a graded-density structure (coarse outside, fine inside) that traps sediment, rust and suspended solids. It is the economical workhorse of pre-filtration.
Micron ratings 1 / 5 / 10 / 20 / 50 µm, in 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 inch lengths. The right rating depends on what is downstream — 5 µm is typical ahead of RO; coarser for first-stage sediment.
