Products / 8040 Membrane Housing
8040 stainless steel membrane housing manufacturer — 8-inch RO membrane pressure vessels in SS304/SS316L for 1-6 elements, 300/450/1000 PSI, side-port or end-port closure.
The 8040 membrane housing is the 8-inch pressure vessel that holds standard 8-inch × 40-inch RO, NF or UF membrane elements. It is the workhorse of large industrial and municipal reverse osmosis plants: a single 8040 element produces roughly four times the permeate of a 4040 element, so an 8040-based rack needs fewer vessels, fewer connections and less floor space for the same output.
Shandong Ningchuan Water Treatment Equipment Co., Ltd. manufactures 8040 stainless steel membrane housings in our own workshop in Linyi, China. Every shell is made from seamless SS304 or SS316L tube, welded, machined, polished and pressure-tested before shipment — with material certificates and test reports supplied with each vessel.
We build 8040 vessels for 1 to 6 elements, in side-entry (side port) and end-entry (end port) versions with victaulic clamp or flange closure. The standard rating is 300 PSI (2.1 MPa) for brackish-water RO; 450, 600 and 1000 PSI versions are available for seawater desalination and high-pressure duty. Adapters, thrust rings, end caps and O-rings are supplied to complete the assembly.

Configurations for every large RO duty
Single 8-inch element — the standard building block of industrial RO racks; easy maintenance and flexible spares.
2 to 6 elements in one shell — the most compact way to reach high output with fewer piping joints.
450–1000 PSI vessels for seawater desalination (SWRO) and high-recovery brackish systems.
Feed and concentrate connections on the shell side — compact skid layout and easier membrane change-out.

Common questions from overseas buyers about 8040 stainless steel membrane housing — click a question to expand.
8040 means the vessel fits standard 8-inch diameter, 40-inch long membrane elements. A 4040 housing fits 4-inch elements of the same length. A single 8040 element has about four times the membrane area of a 4040 element, so 8040 housings are the standard choice for large industrial and municipal RO systems.
We build 8040 vessels for 1 to 6 elements. Multi-element vessels reduce the number of interconnectors and joints, lower installation cost and make the rack more compact. Tell us your target permeate flow and recovery and our engineers will propose the element count per vessel.
Our standard 8040 stainless steel housings are rated to 300 PSI (2.1 MPa), which covers most brackish-water and municipal RO. For seawater desalination we build 450 PSI, 600 PSI and 1000 PSI versions on request. Every vessel is hydro-tested before shipment and a test report is supplied.
SS304 is the economical choice for normal brackish water and municipal duty. Choose SS316L when the feed carries chlorides or seawater, or when the application is food, dairy or pharmaceutical grade, where better corrosion resistance and a smoother finish are required.
Yes. We manufacture both stainless steel and FRP (fiberglass) 8040 membrane housings. FRP vessels weigh about a quarter of the equivalent steel housing and never corrode, which is why they are the default for large seawater RO plants. Stainless steel is preferred for sanitary and compact skid applications.
We accept trial orders from 1 piece. Standard 8040 sizes usually ship in 10–20 working days; custom lengths, pressure ratings and ports take 20–30 working days. Vessels are packed with end-cap protection on pallets or in wooden cases for sea freight, with full export documentation.
Yes — we build 4040 (4-inch) and 8040 (8-inch) housings in both stainless steel and FRP, for 1 to 7 elements, plus matching adapters, end caps and thrust rings. See our stainless steel membrane housing supplier page for the full range.
